Meet Joe Scianablo

My name is Joe Scianablo (Sha-Nob-low)

My name is Joe Scianablo, and I’m running to be the next Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead. I’m a Marine combat veteran, retired NYPD officer, former prosecutor, and most importantly, a husband and proud father of two. My entire life has been dedicated to service for my country, city, and community.

I was raised by small business owners who taught me the value of hard work, grit, and loyalty. Military service runs deep in my family; my great-grandfather served in World War II after immigrating from Italy, and my twin brother and I followed that tradition by enlisting in the Marine Corps. I served in East Timor, Eritrea, and Iraq, where I witnessed families and children struggling to survive amid war and instability. Those experiences reinforced a simple truth: everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a shot at a better life.

After multiple deployments, I returned home, used my GI Bill, and pursued a future in public service. Following 9/11, I rejoined the Marines and led young troops in Iraq as a Sergeant. I’ve seen firsthand the cost of failed leadership, and I carry those lessons with me every day.

Back home, I continued serving as an NYPD officer. I focused on domestic violence cases, helping victims find safety and justice through a multidisciplinary approach. Unfortunately, after sustaining an injury in the line of duty, I was medically retired. That time gave me a new purpose as a single parent, youth coach, and community volunteer. I worked with veterans through Battle Buddies and participated in opening a veterans museum, and donated a few personal items that are still on display today.

Still committed to justice, I went to law school when my daughter entered middle school. I later served as a prosecutor in the Queens District Attorney’s Office, advocating for survivors of domestic violence and fighting for the public as an Assistant District Attorney.

Now, I see a new kind of battlefield, right here in our own community. Families in the Town of Hempstead are burdened by rising taxes, bureaucratic waste, and a government that has lost touch. In 2024, the current administration approved a 12.1% tax hike and then gave themselves raises.

I’m running for Town Supervisor because we deserve better. We need leadership rooted in service, not politics. I want to shine a light on corruption, lower taxes, invest in infrastructure, support small businesses, and restore transparency and trust in town government.

I’ve led Marines through war, protected the vulnerable on our streets, and stood up for justice in the courtroom. Now, I’m ready to fight for the people of the Town of Hempstead.

This town is worth fighting for. Let’s fix what’s broken and build something better together.
