Meet Joe Scianablo
My name is Joe Scianablo (Sha-Nob-low)
My name is Joe Scianablo, and I’m running to be the next Supervisor of the Town of Hempstead. I’m a Marine combat veteran, retired NYPD officer, former prosecutor, and most importantly, a husband and proud father of two. My life has been defined by service to my country, my city, and my community.
I was raised by small business owners who taught me the value of hard work, grit, and loyalty. Military service runs deep in my family; my great-grandfather served in World War II after immigrating from Italy, and my twin brother and I followed that tradition by enlisting in the Marine Corps. I served in East Timor, Eritrea, and Iraq, where I witnessed families and children struggling to survive amid war and instability. Those experiences reinforced a simple truth: everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a fair shot at a better life.
After multiple deployments, I returned home, used my GI Bill, and continued my path in public service. Following 9/11, I continued serving in the Marine Corps Reserves and led young troops in Iraq as a Sergeant. I’ve seen the cost of failed leadership, and I carry those lessons with me every day.
Back home, I continued serving as an NYPD officer, focusing on domestic violence cases and helping victims find safety and justice. After sustaining an injury in the line of duty, I was medically retired. That chapter led me to serve in new ways, as a single parent, youth coach, and community volunteer. I worked with veterans through Battle Buddies, helped open a veterans museum, and donated personal items that remain on display today.
Still committed to justice, I went to law school when my daughter entered middle school. I later served as a prosecutor in the Queens District Attorney’s Office, advocating for survivors of domestic violence and fighting for the public as an Assistant District Attorney.
I’ve seen battlefields overseas, but the one we’re facing now is right here in the Town of Hempstead. Families are paying more while services decline, roads crumble, and corruption continues unchecked. This town doesn’t need another politician; it needs a servant leader. After exposing what’s been hidden, I’m running because I’m ready to fix it by auditing this government, repairing what’s broken, and putting power back where it belongs: with the people.
I’ve led Marines through war, protected the vulnerable on our streets, and stood up for justice in the courtroom.
Now, I’m ready to fight for the people of the Town of Hempstead, because no community should be left behind.
