Key Issues
Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
End wasteful spending on inflated salaries and perks for career politicians, and redirect resources to where they are needed most, serving the people of the Town of Hempstead. The recent 12.1% tax hike, passed while officials gave themselves raises, placed an unfair burden on hardworking taxpayers. Joe Scianablo is committed to restoring fiscal responsibility, increasing transparency, and prioritizing the needs of residents over those of political insiders.
On day one, Joe will initiate a full operational and financial audit of every department. It’s time to cut through the bureaucratic inertia, expose inefficiencies, and rebuild a culture of accountability. Taxpayers deserve a town government that works as hard and honestly as they do.
Infrastructure
The town's crumbling infrastructure, particularly in historically underserved neighborhoods, remains a significant concern. Whether it's broken roads, dilapidated buildings, zombie homes, or abandoned outdoor spaces, there has been notable neglect from the current administration. As Supervisor, Joe will ensure that these neglected areas are prioritized, receiving the resources and attention they need to thrive. Joe recognizes the importance of collaborating with labor partners to ensure the town complies with the highest standards of development and maintains a strong workforce. He wants to hear from residents about these overlooked areas so that he can focus on what needs fixing.
Safety
As a retired NYPD officer, Joe understands that safety must be a right, not a privilege, for every resident in the Town of Hempstead. Every community deserves safety and trust. As Town Supervisor, he will continue to strengthen the relationship between public safety and the communities they serve.
Veteran Services
Joe is dedicated to supporting our veterans by ensuring they receive the services, respect, and recognition they’ve earned. As a Marine combat veteran, this is personal for him. This dedication starts with access to quality employment, healthcare, and housing. Honoring their sacrifice means standing by them with unwavering commitment and delivering the support they deserve. He will collaborate with all levels of government to advocate for fully funded veterans’ services and promises to fulfill the needs of those who made the greatest sacrifice.
Domestic Violence
With the irresponsible closure of the Safe Center, resources for domestic violence victims and survivors in Nassau County and the Town of Hempstead are critically limited. After dedicating much of his career as an NYPD officer and prosecutor in the Queens DA’s office focused on domestic violence, he is eager to see a multidisciplinary approach to providing services. Joe will collaborate with Nassau County and other community organizations to ensure that services are delivered and accessible to all survivors, victims, and their families.
